It should feel exactly that way. In reality, however, it requires careful preparation and many years of experience. It is comparable to a dance, a song, or a solo violin performance. For an artist to deliver a masterful three- to five-minute performance on stage, every element must be perfected—sometimes requiring months of practice and more than 20 years of training!
The process of creating a sand animation is very similar. First, we develop the script and the concept—a creative task that we work on together with the client. Next, the sand images are designed based on the script. The greatest challenge is ensuring that every image flows seamlessly into the next. This is the essence of sand animation. Once the storyboard, the sand drawings, and the transitions have been planned, we begin synchronizing them with the music. Video recordings are created, and the music is carefully selected to match every hand movement—giving the audience the impression of effortless performance.
The next step is practicing the drawing speed. To achieve a performance of the highest quality, approximately one hour of practice is required for every minute on stage. Technical support also plays a crucial role in the success of the performance. Artistic talent alone is not enough to create an unforgettable show. The final step is setting up the equipment on-site with the help of a professional assistant. Every technical detail is optimized: the sand animation table, the cameras, the sound, and the projector are all perfectly synchronized.
Only then can the audience hold their breath for a few unforgettable moments and allow themselves to be enchanted by this beautiful art form.
